Xander: Just once I'd like to run into a cult of bunny worshippers. Anya: Great. Thank you very much for those nightmares.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Hawkeye's arrows, on the other hand....

And now I'm laughing uncontrollably about Loki catching and *grabbing* one of Hawkeye's arrows, whereupon Hawkeye's arrow *exploded*.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That Betsy ditty makes me want to cry with its truth.

Skyfall trailer: [link]

It does look like it might be one of those scenarios where there's at least a frame of every set piece in the trailer, but hey! They look like cool set pieces.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I forget: did we talk here about the reviewers who apparently missed Black Widow doing anything of value in the movie? The latest on that trend is apparently George R. R. Martin. ::rolls eyes::

Scarlett Johanssen looked great in that outfit, but she seemed to be there only as eye candy.

I swear, there's some weird Rashomon thing going on. How does one entirely miss Natasha catching a ride on a hoverskiff and closing the portal?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I forget: did we talk here about the reviewers who apparently missed Black Widow doing anything of value in the movie?

Uh...she does arguably the most important thing in the movie.

The latest on that trend is apparently George R. R. Martin. ::rolls eyes::

Damn you, old white dudes!

Oh, dear. Speaking of authorial intent, I'm boggling at the Something Awful costuming post: [link]

Every time more is read into costuming than I can follow, I remember Tim sending back the hench vampires in Lullaby because the costumers had put them in basically the same outfit that Gunn was wearing.

I know, I know. Not everyone's that careless. But I often feel I don't have enough information to tell who's who.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

So, I would swear I haven't skipped in here for a VERY long time, but I don't remember seeing any discussion - did anyone see The Raven? It hit the cheap theater here superfast, and I'm wondering if that's a harbinger of quality (or lack thereof). We're still planning on seeing it ($3.50 matinee is tough to beat), but I wouldn't mind a little forewarned/forearmed.

Also, because though it's been mentioned, I feel it's important. There wasn't near enough Hawkeye time!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

On the other end of the Avenger's review spectrum I saw at least one review that said Natasha was the real hero of the Avengers movie, with Banner a close 2nd.

I just randomly turned the TV on to Hanna, and how come Saoirse Ronan has better fight scenes than Scarlett Johansson?

That was such a badass movie. Now I want to watch it again.

I changed onto that station right at the start of the fight on the docks. Fucking gorgeous shit. I need to put it on my shopping list. Broken adolescent assassins are the bomb.
