But? There's always a but. When this is over, can we have a big 'but' moratorium?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I hope there is a blooper reel for the Avengers, and I hope it contains a shot of Loki getting that staff caught in his giant horns. This is based on a throwaway comment by Hiddleston that may or may not reflect anything that actually happened.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

One thing I noticed in the theatre is that Bruce doesn't wear a belt. I was mystified at first, but wow, it makes sense. Maybe. A bit of logic that he'd not bother with a belt when he might be ripping it off later. But then they didn't bother explaining the magical expanding pants that only disappear when he's normal sized, when it makes the least sense for clothes to disappear. He should be lying in rubble in overstretched pants.

Still, the lack of belt tickles me and seems right.

I also absolutely loved Natasha's absolute fear of the Hulk, when Bruce "tests" her and she pulls the gun on him. Not only a cool shot, but just the reality of this is a scary dude, and Nat doesn't take that for granted.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I found the fact that she was pointing the gun directly at the camera incredibly distracting and awkward, especially in 3D but also in 2D.

Juliebird, I got a big kick out of Banner's magical stretchy/disappearing pants. Also out of the way his upper body grew so much larger than his lower body did.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I also absolutely loved

Oh yes, me too. When being interrogated and when talking to Loki, she was portrayed as being in complete control of her emotions, and feeling like she was in command of the situation; it made her very real fear of "the other guy" that much more noteworthy.

Also interesting to note that when she was talking to Loki, she faked fear while actually feeling confident; when first meeting Bruce, it's the other way around. (Plus, Loki was fooled; Bruce wasn't.)

On that last point, I don't think Natasha had actually done any less of a good job putting up a front with Bruce; it's just that he assumes, largely rightly, that everyone is really scared of him. I suspect that's a reason he stays with the Avengers. Aside from the fact that he could feel the Hulk was actually doing some good, Tony Stark may be the first person he's met since his accident that knows who he is and still seems to be genuinely relaxed around him.

Zenkitty, the magical disappearing pants didn't so much disappear as get incinerated when the fighter he was tearing to pieces exploded in a fireball underneath him. Per Harry Dean Stanton, he landed naked in the warehouse.

It's not that they magically disappeared, so much as they stayed on when the shirt went.

Now I have this image of a raging Hulk torso hopping about on tiny Bruce Banner legs.

Thrive to spite them

Will and I saw Avengers again last night! He called me after work and said "It's playing at the TRex theater at 6:30, let's see". The T Rex theater is like a baby IMAX.

Bigger screen and for 6:30 on a Monday night there were about 10-12 people there.

It was so much fun seeing it again! A couple things I noticed: the use of mirrors, there's twice where the action is mostly shown through a mirror - part of when Natasha is interrogating in the beginning and another time, during the battle (although I'm blanking on that).

Then another cool shot I totally love is when everyone is in the lab arguing and the staff is there and the upside down shot where everyone is under the staff (and sort of under Loki's influence)

And I didn't catch it the first time but when Tony grabs Hawkeye to take him up to the building his says "Clench up Legolas." I found that amusing

I think this was a rewatch for most people in the theater, not as many big reactions as when I saw it on Saturday but Hulk throwing Loki around and Hulk sucker punching Thor got big laughs. Also I noticed this time when Tony's arc reactor wasn't lit up like it should be.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Isn't there a random mirror shot with a small round wing mirror and Captain America's image? Providing I'm not hallucinating this...I think it took me out of the moment.
