by increase I mean the estimates probably increased after Friday receipts and audience polling.
Ah! That makes sense.
I am DEEPLY tempted to go see it again today, although we really do have important life stuff to do. Bah.
I was contemplating giving it those six bucks today, but I had a late night last night, so that didn't happen. It's probably better, as it gives me a week of reading things and knowing what to look for and appreciate on a second viewing.
It's funny le nub said that, because after Friday's 80 million I was doing the HSX math in my head too and wondering why no one else was predicting 200 million. The rule of thumb was that good word of mouth increased the normal Friday multiplier of 2.7. This had crazy word of mouth.
I saw
The Avengers
yesterday. I spent the first 2/3s of it liking it a whole lot and the last third absolutely riveted. I found myself literally on the edge of my seat at several points. And I'll be going back next weekend for another viewing, if not sooner. This is the first movie since the first
Pirates of the Caribbean
where I was planning my next viewing before I'd left my seat from the first.
Yeah, I'm going to do another viewing in a few hours.
Wow.
I'm waiting for the SO to get done playing bass and come home so we can go see it. He won't have seen any of the precursors at all, although of course he has a vague idea of who the characters are from existing in the world for the past several decades.
Is there anything specific I should tell him as backstory before he goes in, or will he be good with the given text?
Liese,
as someone who had very limited exposure to the back stories, just roll with it. The one that was the most difficult was Thor, but sometimes you just have to go with the story as told.

I think he'll be fine. You could mention that the previous movies wove together bits and pieces like the Tesseract, and Tony Stark's dad involved with Capt. America, Tony Stark building Cap's shield, Agent Coulson and Nick Fury being in the earlier movies, or Loki's story in Thor, but the movie doesn't require that.
OK, in the theater again. This time I'm at a 3-D showing. (This theater is showing
The Avengers
on two 3-D screens and one 2-D and I didn't want to wait for the next 2-D show.)
