Curses! The early evening shows sold out earlier that I expected, so I had to buy a ticket to the 9:30 pm show instead. Oh well, who needed sleep tonight anyway?
At least this way I get to watch SPN live, and I see Kristen has given me a consolation prize of Hot Shirtless Guy with a gun.
I have to wait a week. Thank goodness my mom's a geek. Her Mother's Day present is going to be seeing The Avengers.
In the theater! There is a large group of kids. They better not be irritating! Set phasers to adorable instead.
I saw it in 2D, and have no regrets.
Ditto. And had a great audience.
We saw "The Avengers."
I enjoyed it quite a bit and we had an audience who laughed a LOT. I think I missed 1/8th of the audience because of laughing. I was pretty entertained throughout. I was expecting a so-so movie and it is better than so-so. I am not sure I would say it is better than Spider-Man 2 or X-Men 2, but I thought it was pretty good.
Note: I have only seen Iron Man (not 2) and Captain America. So, I didn't get Thor at all. I thought he was the worst of the avengers (and didn't do a good acting job either). I really liked Hulk but
It was not well-explained how Hulk behaved the first time he appeared versus the big battle.
I wish the trailer hadn't spoiled the end. it sucked the life out of a particular event toward the dead end of the film. Thank you all for mentioning there were 2 bonus scenes after the end of the movie!
I was worried starting a 2 1/2 hour movie at 9:30 would have me up too late to enjoy it, but when the credits rolled I was like Drusilla: Do it again, do it again!
Well. There is nothing about that movie I didn't like. Holy crap, they have a Hulk. Also, even Tony Stark expected
to be slashed.
Finally, Loki is very pretty. Wow. I don't remember that from
Thor.

Were you, too, waiting for
Hulk to catch Iron Man and wondering whether it had gotten cut since the battle was over but then he was falling so you figured that was when it had to be and sure enough
?
On that note, however, I think the biggest compliment I can pay the film is that the big power shot in the trailer, the pan of the entire team, even though we know it's coming, is genuinely cathartic. Everything Joss said over and over was true: this is a movie about superheroes who have no business being a team becoming a team. I was impressed that all the main characters (including Nick Fury) had time to shine and have character arcs.
The clear audience favorite was
Hulk, though. Oh my fucking God, we were DYING LAUGHING at Hulk tossing Loki around like a rag doll. I think we were just laughing for the next couple minutes. We couldn't stop. Not to mention the Thor punch.
So much fun.
when the credits rolled I was like Drusilla: Do it again, do it again!
We did seriously contemplate going upstairs to the 2D theater to watch it again.
Hulk was awesome. Just awesome. I wanted MOAR HULK.
Did _anyone_ catch what Hulk said right after the event PC whitefonted?
The laughter was so loud and long, I totally missed what I'm sure was a good line.
The first 3 or 4 minutes of the Avengers had me worried. I guess I expected an explosive start, but I ended up loving every other minute of it.
Plus, IT'S THAT GUY! roulette. Including
Enver!
Which surely has been mentioned before, and I missed it. Still, fun!
