Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
when is the movie coming out?
23rd of March. I've got tickets for 9:40 the Saturday morning. Since I'm not up to (nor specifically psyched enough for) midnight--(call me for The Hobbit, or maybe The Bat).
I can't do midnight shows anymore. I am fucking wrecked the next day.
I want to say the only time I ever did a midnight showing was The Phantom Menace, which was completely awesome right up until the actual movie happened.
I've done two movies at midnight showings. RHPS, which isn't really anything abnormal. But the other was The Exorcist. I was driving a station wagon and desperately wanted eyeballs in the back of my head to keep an eye in the rear storage area. I swear I drove home with my head turned half-way around.
All the LotR movies were midnight viewings for me, so even though I'm way too old for it now, I might force myself twice more, because I LOVE YOU MIDDLE EARTH!!!!
Yeah I did midnight lotrs and don't regret it. But probably not for this, although I will go for sure.
I did midnight showings of all the Lord of the Ring movies. Hubby being manager of the game store renting the theaters helped with that.
Emmett wants to do a midnight showing for the next Batman.
Midnight movies I've seen: RHPS (multiple), The Song Remains the Same, The Shining, Tommy, and many more. I was a teenager in the 70s - midnight movies were still a thing.
A lot of the exciting first showings of movies I've seen weren't midnight movies though: The Empire Strikes Back, Batman (Burton), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - were all 9pm first showings. Crowds were pumped though.
I remember when Scola came to visit and we were going to get together on the first morning he was in town.
Me: What do you want to do?
Scola: Well, Return of the King just opened...
Me: Right!
When Emmett was little we had both a new Harry Potter and a new LoTR movie out every xmas break and we'd see each multiple times.
