How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I just sort of recognized that other people found Thomas Hardy hot. Then I saw him in Tinker, Tailor. Now I totally see the hot.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Having seen Clash of the Titans, OMG, no--Project X is way way higher on the must-avoid list than anything in that franchise.

How about the upcoming Madea's Witness Protection? (Best I can do. I'm sure Uwe Boll is working on some movie, but I'm not masochistic enough to go looking for it.)

No, I'd rather watch Good Deeds than those pricks cavorting and angling within some contempt-inducing high school hierarchy.

You're pretty much going to have to destroy an already-loved franchise or character to raise my hackles the same amount.

Okay, now that I've seen a longer Project X trailer, there *is* a fireball. It's still not enough, though. Not big enough, not soon enough, not devastating enough.

GI Joe II is tempting me in with the idea that Channing's character is dead, and that The Rock and Jessica Moore will kick some ass, but why does there have to be Bruce Willis? Hmmph.

I liked Safe House. Originally I'd have said that it was about as plausible as the Bourne movies, but having seen a trailer for Bourne Legacy, and Safe House is much more likely.

However, it was fun. You have to take some leaps to get from scene to scene, but Denzel is fucking *on*. I love him nefarious and malevolent, because I've always thought he was scarily charismatic, and perfectly designed to get in your head and fuck you up. Still, vuvuzelas is beyond the pale.

Lots of fun fight choreography, with about enough focus that you can see who's hitting who, and lots of bullets that don't hit anyone, and some that do.

And pretty! Man, Ryan starts out basically in tears, and it sets some expectations.

ita !, I finally saw Chronicle today. It's been a while since I saw Akira, but I still got a much stronger Kid Miracleman vibe than Tetsuo vibe. Thought it was pretty good, too.

I just watched Rango. What the hell, they marketed it like a kids' movie, but it's actually A Fistful of Dollars meets Chinatown with talking animals. The visuals were great, as was the voice-acting, but for some reason, either because I came in with preconceptions or because I kept falling asleep, I thought the tone was off. Like it wanted to be taken seriously, like really seriously, but there was this silliness that undermined it. I admired the ambition, though.
