Young Frankenstein is a better film in almost every conceivable way.
Agreed. Also, Peter Boyle was one of the best monsters (comic or not) ever, and the ending where they fixed his brain was inspired.
Buckaroo Banzai is just so awesome though.
Also agreed.
No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.
...and the ending where they fixed his brain was inspired.
I lost it when Madeline Kahn came in the door at the end to reveal her new hairdo: [link]
Buckaroo Banzai is just so awesome though.
Polter probably doesn't appreciate
Big Trouble in Little China,
either
t supercilious sniff
. Ah, well, perfect agreement is boring, anyway.
In fact I would place Blazing Saddles and Buckaroo Banzai as polar opposites in terms of wit.
There are a lot of funny bits in
Blazing Saddles
but the beans around the campfire bit always makes me reach for the fast forward.
But "Can't you see she needs some rest!" is a great lyric. Madeline Kahn rocks so very, very hard.
Polter probably doesn't appreciate Big Trouble in Little China
INCORRECT. Loved it when I was a kid, love it now.
In fact I would place Blazing Saddles and Buckaroo Banzai as polar opposites in terms of wit.
Heh. I did actually enjoy
Blazing Saddles
quite a bit, but it didn't feel like the pinnacle of comedy or anything.
Buckaroo Banzai,
however, left me mystified. Although I did like that bit Frank quoted.
Loved it when I was a kid, love it now.
My faith in Polter is restored.
Buckaroo Banzai
is a very Dadaist movie. Though the DVD extras do explain about the watermelon in the press.
BTW, Polter, what did you think of the 2nd Predator movie?
BigbooTAY!
I love Buckaroo Banzai, I can't help it. I saw it when it first came out, and it totally cemented my attraction to Peter Weller. It makes no sense but I love it.
