Why are you in an argument with someone who thinks De Niro is not a good actor, but rather a film star?
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
De Niro: isn't Taxi Drive the iconic De Niro film? Or is that not good because it was more a star turn?
I like Brad Pitt in "A River Runs Through It."
Raging Bull?
Brad Pitt was amazing in "Tree of Life". I easily forgot I was watching Brad Pitt.
Oh yeah - Raging Bull - or the Deer Hunter.
ita - that person is just wrong.
I liked Brad Pitt in "Thelma and Louise" and "Dallas".
DeNiro is great in some of his quieter movies, too, like Stanley and Iris and Awakenings.
Jackson - "Sunset Limited" (based on a Cormac McCarthy play).
Why are you in an argument with someone who thinks De Niro is not a good actor, but rather a film star?
I'm not in an argument. I'm just putting together a one and done tactical strike.
- De Niro: Deer Hunter, Stanley & Iris
- Jackson: Fresh, Sunset Limited
- Pitt: Tree of Life, A River Runs Through It
I think I'll take those back. Thanks!
Brad Pitt is also excellent in Moneyball. Similar to his work in Tree Of Life, he just disappears into the role.
