Well, if we followed the recipe...should be cake. A demon-violence-free-zone cake.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

"Out of my way, you flame of doom!"

Peter Lorre was perfect as Gollum.

I also liked how Dietrich/Galadriel's speech was reduced to: "Get out."

I'll have to watch that tonight (no YouTube at work).

Did y'all see last night's Colbert? Elijah Wood was on promoting Happy Feet 2, but they only talked about it for a few minutes before the geek in Stephen couldn't resist it anymore and they started to talk about LotR/The Hobbit. EW brought his Sting sword with him and Stephen's eyes went reverent, but then he pulled out his own Sting! Turns out, he has recently (I'm guessing on their most recent break) gone to NZ and visited the set. As all visitors to the set do, he signed a non-disclosure agreement, and he was just bursting with the desire to spill everything on the air. Since he couldn't do that, he got EW to agree to stick around so they could burble without anyone else around.

It's always fun to watch Stephen geek out over LotR on air, and last night was about as full-on geek as I've seen him in a long time.

Remember when Viggo came on and gave him commemorative LotR chocolate figures?

Hee! My favorite Stephen LotR geekout didn't even have him visible. It was when Viggo was a guest on TDS, and someone had gone to Stephen beforehand and did an audio recording of him going on, and on, and on with all the varied and sundry names of Aragorn.

His love of Tolkien is very poignant, since one of his older brothers had given him The Hobbit to read during the wake for his dad and two brothers to give him an escape from his grief.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Well, dammit, now I'm going to have to go find myself a spare heart, because the one I'm getting by with just doesn't have enough room to contain all my love for him.
