Anybody going to see The Skin I Live in?
Almodovar's latest looks like a perfect three way splice between Eyes Without A Face, Vertigo and Frankenstein.

I saw it about a month ago, David. The whole premise is pretty messed up, and then it goes to a very messed up place. Really well done though, and Antonio Banderas is much sexier in Spanish than English, even playing a pssychopath.
Sue, the reviews and the trailer reminded me of Almodovar's Bad Education.
A similar brew of influences and concerns. But less Vertigo and more Eyes Without a Face.
I'm curious now about the French novel it was based on, Tarantula by Thierry Jonquet.

Hasn't this always been the case with or without the white font? I liked him in Spanish language films and when I saw him in English films, I was not impressed.
See also: Penelope Cruz. Her acting in Spanish is really superb. Not so much in English.
I'm Tivoing The Runaways and it's pretty good.
Ms. Stewart is a credible Joan, has the right physicality for it. Dakota Fanning is doing a good job as Cherrie and the guy playing Kim Fowley is funny as hell. Why didn't this movie get more love?
They even open with one of my favorite obscuro glam songs, "Roxy Roller."
I also have The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus on the Tivo, and while I don't expect it to exactly cohere, I have to say I love the imagery Terry Gilliam gets on the screen.
Whoa that kissing scene set to "I Wanna Be Your Dog" is both a cool bit of filmmaking and pretty hot.
Let the Right One In had a bunch of really iconic looking scenes. That massacre at the pool ranks up with the bar scene in Near Dark, and Louis taking a scythe to the theater people for vampy mayhem.
Yeah, I found the movie super boring for the most part, but the pool scene was awesome. (I assume you're talking about the original? I haven't seen the remake.)
(I assume you're talking about the original?
Correct!
Yeah, I found the movie super boring for the most part
That's just because you've never had a vampire love, P-Cow.
And you have? (I haven't had ANY love, vampire or otherwise.)
The pool scene in the original Let the Right One In was amazing. I kind of want a loop of iconic vampire bloodshed scenes; that, the bar scene from Near Dark, the beach party massacre from Lost Boys, the opening taking of the town from 30 Days of Night, that sort of thing. Oh, and the opening 15 minutes of The Hunger, of course.
