Finally saw Captain America today. Good stuff. Peggy is a badass.
Also? An octopus really IS the opposite of a hydra!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

The buzz is that Anne Hathaway has the worst British accent since Dick Van Dyke. True or False?
I wouldn't say that; it wasn't so bad that it took me out of the movie or anything. I was more bothered by her looking the same age in 2005 as in 1988. They at least made hairstyle and coloring choices that appeared to age Sturgess somewhat (though I did crack up when his character moaned about having to say something juvenile when he's 32, and the actor looked about 25 ).
Huh. Hathaway has done British accent before in Becoming Jane, and I thought her accent was decent in that. Way better than Robert Downey Jr.'s in Sherlock, I thought at any rate. (I mean, I love RDJ, but I could barely understand what the hell he was saying during some of his fast speeches.)
On a completely different note, here is an Up vid that premiered during Vividcon last weekend. It's marvellous and will definitely make you cry: [link]
Evil, Vonnie.
What? It's on topic! *whistles innocently*
I AM AVOIDING THAT VID UNTIL AFTER SEPTEMBER, DAMN IT.
(Seriously, I know I'm not emotionally up for it, but I might watch it after Sandy's memorial.)
I am so not watching that vid. No.
It really is wonderful, but I think it will be a long time before I can ever watch it again.
We saw Fright Night this weekend. I am not a slasher flick fan, the kids and husband usually see 'em with out me, but I loved the original. Anton Yelchin continues to be a cutie, Colin Farrel swaggered and oozed danger and Tennant, oh Tennant... it was like watching The Doctor, drunk, in leather pants and way more shirtless.
Well you're not going to get anyone on this board to go see it with that description.
Ouch! I think I just poked a hole in my cheek with my tongue.
