"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

So I saw Cowboys and Aliens. And it was fun, and actiony, and shots of Daniel Craig with his shirt off, which I understand appeal to some here. And even aside from that, it was good.

But those of you with big hot-buttons about women in significant roles may want to pass. Olivia Wilde is really good, and may have more agency here than she did in Tron, although the actually an alien thing bugs there. But it seems like Hollywood is still struggling with the idea that a movie can have more than one woman be an actual character.

Also, in my head-canon? About ten miles out of town, Ella shows up in her real body, in the ship she arrived in, and demonstrates some of the more positive aspects of alien abduction for Jake, and they leave to explore the universe.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So Dungeons & Dragons just showed up on SyFy.

This movie is completely ill-advised. Jeremy Irons has been in some really crappy movies. Holy cow.

Oh my God. Seriously. How did this get released in theaters? Why would you put Marlon Wayans in...anything?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Also, in my head-canon?

Heh. That would be fun.

I just got back from Cowboys and Aliens myself. It was OK. Worth the $5, I guess.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Just got back from Cap. Overall I had a good time. Some issues arose but I was able to adjust my suspenders of disbelief to fit.

I love Howard Stark!

I was really disappointed by the post-credit sequence.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ow did this get released in theaters?

I was wondering if it was made for TV! Wayans was just so bad in this film. Really embarrassing. I had to stop after 20 minutes.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Cowboys vs. Aliens did not make a lot of $$ at the box office this weekend. It tied with 'The Smurfs!'

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I saw C&A on Friday night--definitely no better than OK, but it wasn't that bad for the $7.50 matinee ticket. I thought the final action sequence was where it really fell apart for me; the whole film was building up to that scene, but it didn't match the buildup. Daniel Craig was really good, though, and Adam Beach was quite excellent. Harrison Ford was mailing it in, though. Not enough of Sheriff Carradine, IMO.

After we got out of that show, the theater next door was starting Captain America ten minutes later, so we headed into there (haven't snuck into a movie in a while--I felt like such a rebel!). Much better film!! Really liked it a lot. I know nothing about the Marvel 'verse (never read a comic book/graphic novel in my life) other than what I've seen at the movies or on tv, but I loved seeing Tony Stark's dad and am looking forward to The Avengers next summer.

Art Crawl!!!

Oh, I thought that Cowboys and Aliens was silly fun. I made sure I had a giant tub of popcorn and I wish that my ticket has only been $7.50!

But Daniel Craig looks excellent dressed as a gunslinger: I believe he should do that more often.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

It's my birthday on Saturday and I am picking the movie we go to. Should it be Crazy, Stupid Love or Cowboys and Aliens? CSL got way better metacritc scores, but CaA has Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. I am in a quandary.
