A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think the fact that Matthew Lewis has worn a dental appliance all the time he's played Neville helped disguise his incipient hottitude.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Yeah. Matthew Lewis was already a stone-cold hottie when that pic was taken in, err, 2008, I think. But the smart suits really take it to another level. (Plus, I think he has new teeth.)

Wow, Dudley is a cutie-pie! Who knew? BTW, I really appreciated that they included the deleted Dudley scene from HP7.1. on the DVD set. It never sat right with me that the scene wasn't there in the movie.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

The Edward Norton version of Hulk is on TV. There is just no dignified way to work "HULK SMASH!" into a serious movie.

hwæt

I liked the voice casting of the Hulk, though.

Oh, they did? Awesome! I'm getting the dvd from Netflix, I hope that has it on it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think the fact that Matthew Lewis has worn a dental appliance all the time he's played Neville helped disguise his incipient hottitude.

And a fat suit, and things behind his ears to make them stick out. On the Q&A panel after the HP7.2 screening, he said he only ever gets recognized at promotional events. (As opposed to Rupert Grint, who is a 6-foot tall redhead, and has attended the last three Glastonbury festivals wearing various animal heads so he won't be mobbed by drunken fans.)

hip deep in pie

who is a 6-foot tall redhead

Is he that tall? I thought he was wee!

I saw HP 7II last night in IMAX 3D. I was distracted by the format, and especially my glasses a lot of the time. (They kept steaming up.) I liked it a lot, but it all seemed to zoom by so fast. I think I will go see it again in 2D sometime, so I can properly absorb it.

Because books.

Oh, wow. Dudley is a cutiehead!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My boss and her daughters went to the midnight showing opening night, so she wanted to talk about it today. I told her I hadn't seen it yet, but I was spoiled anyway, so go ahead. Then I had to explain what "spoiled" was.

And then -- I blame the antibiotics -- I asked her, "So was the movie pretty much 'Fuck yeah, Neville Longbottom!'?"

She just blinked and me, and I said, "Uh...sorry, I mean, 'Hell yeah, Neville Longbottom!' " And then she burst out laughing. Whew. And then confirmed that yes, it was Hell Yes Neville Longbottom.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Just got back from the movie (and yes, I wore my Hogwarts school blazer!), and it was pretty much everything I wanted. The only thing I really felt was missing was McGonnigal's big speech before the battle of Hogwarts.

Oh, and I tried to keep my eyes open during the spider attack. Ha, no. First shot of them scuttling up had me recoiling in my seat muttering "No fucking way".

I wanna go see it again.
