Does anyone have any idea if Nolan is going to play Bane intelligently, like in the comics? I'm tired of people complaining that he's stupid, and it would be really irritating if the movie went against canon and proved them right.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I recently read Knightfall, and I totally liked how smart Bane was! Why would people say he was stupid? Dude planned the SHIT out of his triumph.
Why would people say he was stupid?
Because he's big and muscular and has a wrestling background. Also, because they seem to not mind talking without citation. Someone just made that complaint on IO9, and their response to me pointing out Bane was intellectual was that that wasn't plausible.
Okay, man dresses up like bat and fights crime at night, and you think a guy with muscles and a brain is what breaks the suspension of disbelief?
I can't wait. More Bat!
I watched the John Carter trailer linked on that page, too, and I'm familiar with the story at all, but I like Taylor Kitsch. Mmm.
It's obviously impossible to be both muscley and smart.
Thanks for the Harry Potter info, folks! We go see it today.

Because of the horrible hideous movie with George Clooney? Was that Batman and Robin?
Wasn't everyone stupid in those, though?

Oh, heck yeah. But I just figured if that movie was the last impression people (and by "people" I pretty much mean "people who watch movies but don't read comics") had of Bane, they wouldn't think of him as, for instance, awesome Knightfall Bane.
