I have come to believe that Mike Judge is not capable of working at movie length. Even Office Space was a great collection of bits in search of a movie. I love it, but it doesn't hold together as a single piece.
No shame in that - I think Mel Brooks (apart from Young Frankestein) and Python (apart from Life of Brian) have the same problems.
Idiocracy was cut up pretty badly, but I think I'd agree with you, mostly.
King of the Hill can be really underrated as satire imo, however.
I love King of the Hill, so I expected to at least find Idiocracy tolerable. I thought the wrester/porn star as POTUS was extremely funny, but that was about it.
Man, how awesome is Lillian Gish in "The Night of the Hunter"?

I love Office Space, too, but you're right...it doesn't hang together.

They abide, and they endure.
Yeah, it's one of my favorites.

Awesome movie. The new Criterion print is pretty fantastic, too.
Steph, I though Idiocracy was a fucking mess, too, but some of the better parts seem funnier with distance.

Truer words have never been spoken.
Mitchum is pretty seriously great too. Never seen a bad guy so simultaneously scary and ridiculous. In his more awkward moments he reminds me of Daffy Duck.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo red band trailer leaked.
I have not read the book, but it's a pretty badass trailer (Trent Reznor and Karen O doing "Immigrant Song") with an awesome tagline.
