Unsurprising, since he is only onstage (so to speak) briefly in The Hobbit, and the characterization is, well, not much like the Elves of LotR. Thranduil is Legolas' father, the king of the Elves of Mirkwood.
If I were a true Tolkein geek, I would be able to tell you of what type. I do know he's not Noldor, though. Okay, upon reviewing Wikipedia (here), he's Sindarin, at any event.

I can totally see Lee Pace as an elf. His bone structure = perfect.
But they're going to have to assign an eyebrow shaver specifically to him.

Full length Conan trailer. I can only hope there won't be any plot inbetween the scenes shown there. That would be disappointing.
