Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Are movie trailers spoilers?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

well, if people haven't read the book and don't want to be spoiled for the 2nd film, I can imagine so.

Okay, but it's going to be confusing if we randomly make some movie trailers whitefont territory and others not. I imagine that the Hunger Games trailers will be spoilery for the books to some extent, but that's just how the media rolls. I think it's going to be crazy to try and whitefont stuff--is the HP movie discussion going to be whitefonted forever for the same reason? Has it been traditionally?

The movie is its own thing. I think if you don't want to be exposed to movie trailer information, don't read this thread. But if we start calling certain movies spoilers, things will be crazy in no time.

Hey. New board.

I think if you notice things in the trailer that you probably normally wouldn't notice and are using your knowledge of the book to expand upon it, then it should possibly qualify as a spoiler. For example, I watched the trailer and had to watch very carefully for the Molly vs. Bellatrix event that others are discussing. Also, somebody mentioned the death of Tonks and Lupin which certainly isn't obvious from the trailer - implied, perhaps, but not shown outright and again, adding information based on conjecture and knowledge of the books.

It's a fine line and probably not one that should we should really try to enforce much, but I think whitefonting for major plot points makes some sense.
