So I saw SUPER this weekend. Wow, was that NOT a comedy. There were humorous moments, but dear lord, anybody expecting a LOL comedy is going to be driven out of the theater by around the halfway point, if not sooner.
That said, I really liked it because it was so disturbing, and I went in knowing that is was in no way a full-blown comedy, given the reviews and references to TAXI DRIVER thrown out by the director and Rainn Wilson.
But, damn, that was pretty damn dark. And then there's the coda, which I still can't figure out how to read. However, that's OK. I feel the same way about TAXI DRIVER (and STRAW DOGS to reference another movie with a very confusing climactic "cathartic" blood-bath).

Well, there goes my allowance for the foreseeable future. I already had Blow Out on order, but DAMN, the only one I don't know is the first one. And Black Moon is something I've never seen but been hearing about for years. Not that it's a great movie, but definitely an interesting bump in Malle's career.

Hearing that it stars Rainn Wilson tipped me off to that fact without ever seeing a trailer.
I remember seeing Blow Out in the theater with my dad, and being rather impressed by how good it was.
Blow Out is a great movie. Makes a great double feature with The Conversation.

Waah. The people I saw the last two with don't live in LA anymore. No recapturing the past for me.
You should be proud of me! I just saw a preview with Chris Evans in it and recognized him all by myself! For the first time, possibly.
Set picture from The Avengers (casting spoilers in the article but the picture is at the top so don't read if you don't want to know)
