Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Not sure if this belongs in here or music, but did we hear about the Jeff Buckley biopic.
We did not. Fifty bucks says they use "Halleluah" during his drowning scene. Though actually "Song to the Siren" would be more apt.

(I prefer the This Mortal Coil version of that song. I am a heretic, I know.)
Directed by Ridley Scott's son who did Welcome to the Rileys with Melissa Leo, Kristen Stewart and that dude from The Sopranos.
Up for the lead is rumored to be R. Patt & James Franco. (Also JGL).

It's a great version. But the lyrics themselves are about being lured to your death in water. I don't know if Jeff ever sang it, but, of course, it's his father's composition.

Franco's got the right look and could play him, but I'm a bit burned out on Mr. Franco right now.

I know people who knew him well. There could be actors portraying people I know. That will be weird.
Saw Hanna today. It was good, in a "spy thriller with a teenage girl who kills people right and left, but doesn't know how to deal with the modern world" kind of way.
io9 review: Hanna proves action movies can be beautiful
I love stories about assassin kids. Well, okay, Kickass never appealed, but that was pretty much Cage's fault. But I do like the trope.
Yeah, it's always great to see some "little girl" go all Buffy on some killer's ass.
My brother compared it to Leon: The Professional, which I thought was apt.
Killer Kids in the Movies - A Murderous Montage from NYMag's Vulture
With the release of Hanna, a new movie about a child assassin, NYMag's Vulture pop culture blog decided to take a look back at the bloody history of killer kids in the movies with a video montage. Warning: there's gore galore in this murderous retrospective, but it will definitely bring back memories for horror or action fans. It's got everyone from Kick-Ass's Hit Girl to Pet Sematery's Gage.
The scenes Vulture has assembled represent each kid's finest kills, so don't be surprised if it's a bit graphic. Graphically AWESOME, that is.
