Heh, we usually stay through the credits because we like to see where they filmed, and I love to read names - some of the tech people have really cool names - and yeah, sometimes my company or one of our customers gets name checked so we stay, but mostly for the cool names.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Time Bandits along with Watership Down, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and The Last Unicorn are almost always on our annual list of movies that will fuck you up as a kid (I would currently add Where The Wild Things Are to that list). I'm sure we have some corporate friendly name for that list, but basically they're movies that are much more complex than typical Disney fare.
Ooh, I would love to see this full list. Does it include The Neverending Story? Because that movie creeped me out as a kid, and yet I watched it every chance I got (along with The Last Unicorn and, um, a Care Bears movie, I think). Rewatching it as an adult I definitely thought it was a fairly complex concept and story.
It's not so much that they fucked us up, but they actually gave us a bit more credit for knowing that fucked up stuff was out there, and we could deal with it.
100% agreed.
It exists somewhere. I may be able to dig it out of my emails.
Reading the names in the credits for movies filmed in NZ is an especial treat. Bulgaria, Czech, and all the eastern European locations are good for crew names, too.
So, Figwit's real name is Lindir . . . a name that sounds familiar to me.
I have combed through everything I have, and I can't see anything that looks like that list we built. I know those movies, in addition to The Black Cauldron, Something Wicked, Spirited Away (or one of those) were on it.
Lemme ask our copywriter. He's got a better memory for these things than I do.
Is Lindir the same elf? I thought grey materials had made Figwit a concrete name (poor JRR--aneurysm material).
Oh, DJ, I certainly didn't mean for you to go to great lengths to find the list! I was just curious. No worries if it's no longer available. But thank you for looking!
Grey materials?
Grey materials?
Non-canon, I think.
