Now tagless for your comfort.

I had totally managed to wash it from my mind. Now, it's all coming back. *shudder*

the snake scene didn't actually work

I actually laughed at the snakes. I couldn't help it. I mean, Mattie had been through so much shit already, including falling down into the pit (at which point the entire audience gasped as one), and THEN THERE ARE SNAKES. I mean, enough already.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's horrible in the original. The snakes might have left her alone if she didn't keep hitting them with that branch!

THEN THERE ARE SNAKES. I mean, enough already.

Indeed. Not to mention that the only way she should have been bit by hibernating snakes is if she landed right on top of them.

Honestly, I can't watch a movie with Jeff Bridges without thinking of him as The Dude for at least the first hour, and True Grit was no exception. (And I think Rooster Cogburn would quite enjoy a frame or two of bowling.)

The only exception, oddly, was in Iron Man. I don't know if it was the bald head, or what, but The Dude never entered my mind.

Oh! Which reminds me! We got a preview for Thor. I may have made Bobby Hill-like squeeing noises and flailed my hands.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

How did I never know Hudson Hawk was about people trying to put together da Vinci's Gold Machine? That was really fun! With Bruce Willis infiltrating the Vatican, stealing the Codex, and escaping on a flying machine, it was like a comedy version of Assassin's Creed II. This is not a bad movie! It's a fun movie!

I also watched Demolition Man, which I hadn't seen since I was a kid. I still dig it, although I wish they'd set the utopia further in the future. It would have made more sense.

All movies I watched today (Heathers, Demolition Man, Hudson Hawk) were written or co-written by Daniel Waters. The first and last were directed by Michael Lehmann. Two of them featured Glenn Shadix, whom I recognized as "that guy from Beetlejuice." And, aw, he died just a few months ago.

Love it! With the most obnoxious, scenery-chewing villains ever! "Swingin' on a Star"! "Now I must commune with the dolphins"!

hip deep in pie

I finally saw Black Swan. I don't really know what to say. I didn't hate it, but it didn't really work. So many of the tropes he used seemed really tired to me. All he seemed to add was the horror techniques, and those were the least successful part for me. However, I thought the acting was all great (and I say that as a person who can't stand Natalie Portman because her voice is like nails on chalkboard to me) and her costumes were very pretty. So yay Rodarte!
