The parts that were awesome were REALLY AWESOME. And then there was the half-hour train ride to nowhere. Cut that scene out and the movie would have been a trim 90 minutes like the original, and wouldn't have stopped dead halfway through to give us the backstory for the animated TV spin-off.

I saw Tangled tonight with my little brother, and we both LOVED it. The animation was gorgeous and I thought it was hysterically funny.
Also, if you haven't seen it, MightyGodKing's review and comments (no spoilers so far) says pretty much everything else I want to, positive and negative.
mr. flea and the kids saw Tangled yesterday and love it too. I think mr. flea liked it even more than the kids did. I couldn't get him to stop talking about it!
I have to take the kids to see that. Um, for the kids. Yeah.
The daughter and I saw Black Swan on Friday, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Natalie Portman and Barbara Hershey both knocked it outta the park, but I'm still trying to figure out if I actually liked the flim or not.
We saw Tron (IMAX 3D) on Saturday, and it was pretty darn fun. The 15-year-old and his friend both dug it, even though they haven't seen the original. I was braced for it to suck given the reviews, so very glad it didn't.
I really want to see Black Swan, I've been hearing good things! Or, at least, everyone seems to agree that Natalie Portman is fantastic in it.
I also am glad that Tron was fun! I was a little put off by its reviews, but I still really want to see it. I've never seen the original, but the Tron level is one of my favorite parts of Kingdom Hearts 2.
I really want to see Black Swan
I was so very surprised at Portman's range. She does a fantastic job. The movie really is a psycho-thriller, which I was unprepared for (I may have jumped a time or two).
A reviewer on Cinematical was making the case that Black Swan is really a horror movie. Whatever it is, I really want to see it.
As with most Aronofsky, I found Black Swan very visually compelling and very shallow psychologically. I wasn't quite as bored with this one as with The Fountain, but I think I'm kind of over him as a director until he starts getting better scripts. Too much of the dialogue in this one was painful to listen to.
(And he "As we both know know, Bob"-ed the plot of Swan Lake. Seriously? Your movie is not a high school essay! The "tell them what you're going to tell them / tell them / tell them what you just told them" structure does not apply!!)
