I think you may be right, Sue. I wasn't too happy with my original choice because it's not a view you have in the actual movie, whereas in yours, you do.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Oops, I left spoilerfont out of my last batch as I was typing it in a word document to copy and paste so it would look less suspicious from across the office. Fixed now.
Might the crosses be the Life of Brian?
Corwood, you could go ahead. Everyone else has spoilerfonted now.
It's the Algerian flag, but I think you're absolutely right (and Algeria makes it even righter, n'est-ce pas?).
Right! Also, pre-caffeinated. And thanks for the spoiler font info to you, too.
Also, Sue and I are right about Cherbourg vs. Singin' in the Rain.
OK, fixed now.
Might the Bond movie be Goldfinger ? Sort of the right colour.
Still not getting the moustache though. And what is that thing on top of it, the one with the Soviet star?
Fiona:
Goldfinger works for me on the Bond.

In the not-so-good film Gorky Park, William Hurt has that moustache and wears that hat. However, Jars suggested Dr. Zhivago, which is a better choice.
If I were programming a trio of TCM films, I think I'd go with a Careful Your Television Doesn't Ignite from the Sparks theme night and do To Have and Have Not, His Girl Friday, and Roman Holiday.
I just noticed last night that It Happened One Night, His Girl Friday and Desk Set are all on Netfix streaming.
Three TCM movies. Hmmmm.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying -- A great musical that deserves more recognition than it seems to get. Complete with Secretarial Pool Precision Drill Team!
Dark Passage -- Matt, I like your idea of a Bogie and Bacall. And they did better movies than this one. But it's great, underrated, and okay, maybe the first hour of "you see exactly what Bogie's character is seeing" is a gimmick, but dammit, it works!
It's Love I'm After -- Again, sadly underrated. Screwball comedy doesn't get much better, and the big surprise is that Bette Davis, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland are the stars -- not people you'd associate with screwball comedy. An hour and a half of comic delight.
