'The Message'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Good programming!

Just now, when I looked to see what of his was out here. I may have to put that on my Christmas list. His stuff is so much fun.
OK, I just know that with a bit of Buffista input we can crack this:
After two viewings I've got: James Bond (not sure which one), ..., Up, The Godfather, The Usual Suspects, The Birds, The Big Lebowski, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Babe?, Delicatessen?, Airplane, One Million Years B.C., The Shawshank Redemption, ..., Dr. Strangelove..., Pan's Labyrinth, Singin' in the Rain?, Ben Hur, Silence of the Lambs, Borat, Groundhog Day .
Any advance?
Fiona, The Blair Witch Project is the only one I saw that you didn't, I think.
Going back for a second viewing.
ETA - also
The Matrix.
Hey Fiona!
TCM has actually run both Gold Diggers of 1933 and Ace In The Hole a number of times over the last year. I don't know how to do a Region 2 exchange, though!
I'm definitely surprised that Criterion hasn't hit the Apu Trilogy. There must be some sort of rights issue. The issue of rights would be the problem with Los Angeles Plays Itself, too (which is also why you can't find a DVD of it), but I figure that TCM must have some sort of magic attorney squad to clear its use of the movies it plays.
And I have to say that TCM should let us guest-program now.
Fiona, The Crosses could be Last Temptation of Christ or Passion of the Christ, the Pills were the Matrix, The sticks were Blair Witch Project
Oh and Umbrellas of Cherbourg?
Fiona: The scissors and 'stache could be Sweeney Todd, maybe? The Russian hat: Gorky Park? The tapes with Turkish flag: Cache. Yellow highway lines ending with silence sign: Mulholland Drive. Sticks: Blair Witch Project. Hands with two pills: Matrix? Umbrellas: The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Chariot: Gladiator. I think you have the last three.
So let's say:
1. James Bond flick 2. Sweeney Todd 3. Gorky Park 4. Up 5. Last Temptation of Christ (but is there significance in the one struck down?) 6. Godfather 7. Usual Suspects 8. The Birds 9. The Big Lebowski 10. Raiders of the Lost Ark 11. Babe 12. Delicatessen 13. Airplane 14. One Million Years B.C. 15. The Shawshank Redemption 16. Cache 17. Mulholland Drive 18. Dr. Strangelove 19. Blair Witch Project 20.The Matrix 21. Pan's Labyrinth 22. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 23. Ben Hur or Gladiator 24. Silence of the Lambs 25. Borat 26. Groundhog Day
The umbrellas are Singing in the Rain.
I disagree, sir. Pistols at dawn!
