I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Nightwatch

Good creepy atmosphere.

Rewatched Last Action Hero just this past Christmas, and still enjoyed the heck out of it.

Appaloosa is the most recent movie where I spent the entire time going "WTF is this?". There is a Chevy Chase movie that is pure evil and makes my soul feel stained even thinking about it. Nothing But Trouble or somesuch. Evil.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

The only time I walked out of a film was a midnight showing of Sid and Nancy. The only other time I wanted to walk out of a film was The Road to Wellville. God, that movie stunk to high heaven, and I had treated my mom to a full-price evening showing on my $18K/year salary. I apologized to her as we left the theater.

And, in a separate post to distinguish it from bad films, I just got back from seeing Star Trek.

Oh, my god, was that FUN!!! Although I wouldn't see it again in IMAX--waaayyy too much stuff going on to get that close to the screen. I need some distance next time I see it, and that will be soon.

Chris Pine was excellent as Kirk, Zach Quinto nailed Spock and all of his messy hidden emotions, John Cho and Zoe Saldana were great as Sulu and Uhura, Anton Yelchin was good if annoyingly heavy with the Russian accent as Chekov.

And then there were Simon Pegg (he needs more screen time!!) as Scotty--very funny--and Karl Urban (yummmm...excuse me, what was I saying?) did a perfect Deforest Kelley and still made Bones interesting as a character and not an imitation.

I want the next installment now, please!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

dear God, why Keanu as Jonathan Harker?

And Coppola (and at the time, Winona, I would guess) wanted Johnny Depp, GODDAMMIT!!!!! Fucking studios fuck every fucking thing up.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, The Road to Wellville. Good choice for a bad movie. Ugh.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think I've only walked out of the cinema once-- Scanners. And I was watching because a friend's head exploded in it, but I didn't even make it that far.

move out and draw fire

Chris Pine was excellent as Kirk

It possibly shows my geekness that I keep thinking his name is Chris Pike.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I just got back from Star Trek also. I echo just about everything Kathy said. I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was just a tad cheesier than I was expecting, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie. it is fun. It is SO much better than Wolverine. Beau stated this is the 2nd best Star Trek movie - I think you all can guess with one try what his #1 favorite Star Trek movie is.

We definitely needed more Scotty.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.
