Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I haven't seen the four most recent ones, though I want to see Moon and Inception and Children of Men. Hadn't heard of Primer but I want to see it now.
They have a blind spot about early 70s science fiction. I'd put Silent Running up there as well as Clockwork Orange. Maybe The Omega Man or Soylent Green.
Should I watch the original Ghost in the Shell or the remastered Ghost in the Shell 2.0 version?

How many fucking times can they restore it? I swear it's gone through more editions than Bladerunner.
They recovered a significant portion of the lost footage a couple of years ago.
This restoration added lost footage that was found in Germany. Actual Restoration! I think it was also tweaked to look clearer, IIRC.
I've seen 18 of those movies. I'm missing Metropolis, Day the Earth Stood Still, Primer, Moon, Ghost in the Shell, Inception, and District 9.

ITA, David!
The story on ultraviolet light revealing what ancient Greek statues looked like when they still had their paint - it's elsewhere on i09.
I've only seen 20 on that list, but I think I should get credit for multiple viewings of (and total devotion to) most of the others.
