Bradley Cooper may get cast as Green Lantern.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I approve of Bradley Cooper's being in things.
I don't see him as Hal Jordan, though.
Yeah, I think for Hal they need someone a little more hard-edged working man. Harrison Ford would have been perfect 30 years ago, of course.
Cor, that's awesome. Happy to see both Forrest Gump and Moulin Rouge make the list, although this haiku gem might be my favorite:
Oh, Robin Williams,
Bearded man with life lessons,
You ruined poetry.
I adore Moulin Rouge (although I agree with everything else, including Forrest Gump). It is the only movie I have watched multiple times in the theatre, and I see so few movies in the theatre that the last movie I saw was "Cars" and the one before that was "Chicage". I think to enjoy Moulin Rouge, however, you have to have been blessed with both a love for and have watched a lot of movie musicals, and also a passion for old-time love stories, coupled with an ability to laugh at ourself for both of these things. Plus the costumes were gorgeous!
I like nearly every movie mentioned and love a few. I haven't seen three.
I would find myself liking Moulin Rogue, then one of those modern songs would start and it would throw me out utterly as I heard the song in my head in the original version and I'd be distracted by "Why that song? Is this something that's supposed to be hip? Were they too cheap to write their own songs? I don't get it. Elton John/Sting/etc. did it better." Plus I was going "Isn't this La Traviata? Or is it Il Trovatore? I wonder if she dies of consump--yup, there she goes."
Ok, a few I hate as much as you...one or two I still like, and a few are "At the time, I thought they were cool, then I got over it." I'm not telling which were which.
