IA is the superior movie. There was no snorting cocaine, "devil" scene in IA.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I don't remember that scene in The Departed, which I loved. IA is coming up soon in my Netflix queue.
butbutbut...IA doesn't have Leo! okay, okay...adding it to my Netflix queue.
Huh. I just heard that originally, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ended with Scott choosing Knives, having realized that a relationship he built, rather than dreamed, was what he needed. Which makes much more sense given the fight scene. But then they changed it to match the last book.
Also, dammit, the movie bombed. $10.5 million. Slot 5. Under The Expendables, Eat Pray Love, The Other Guys, and Inception. At least it did a little better than The Losers ?

Hey!
I wanted that to do so much better. I think it deserved to, too.

I agree with you!
I agree. I lurved it.
Yeah, hrm, The Expendables' whole shtick seemed to be trading on 80's action movie nostalgia. Given that fact, I am very disappointed that the action sequences were a) unimaginative b) used too many close ups and c) used goddamn shaky cam and high-speed edits.
Why on earth didn't they hire fight choreographers and 2nd unit fight directors that worked on 80's action movies? It would have been so much better. Damn, I hate being completely addled by badly-made action sequences.
The movie was dumb fun, but it could have been an incredible slice of action cheese. Wasted opportunity.
Saw Predators at teh dollar. Worth the dollar and a couple of more. Some actual show-don't-tell storytelling, much depending on the audience keeping track of stuff, and the characters, while stereotypical, had some nice gingerbread, if not a lot of substance. And the "good" guys had their ruthless/practical sides.
