That gag was taken from the comic, too, but in a completely different context.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
You know me--I'm always going to get ticked when a guy won't fight a chick who's a) instigating violence and b) well-matched. But the scene ended way worse than it started. I went from irritated to actually pissed.
We just saw The Expendables for a friend's birthday. It was wall-to-wall mid-life crisis testosterone, and if no slash fic is written for the movie, my faith in fandom will be severely shaken.
How much Stallone is there in it, Jilli? Earlier trailers made it look like my love of Statham and Li might get me through it in the theatre, but recent ones focus much more on the stars I don't like.
Stallone is the main character. Statham is great it it, and so is Li, but Stallone is the focus of most of the movie.
I will say it was ridiculous, cheese-covered, and brainless entertainment. Tho' I was mostly amused by thinking of how much crackfic could be written from it.
I'll add it to the top of my Netflix queue then. I'm not paying LA monies to see him headline in the theatre.
Thanks!
No, don't pay LA monies to go see it. We went because 1. friend's birthday, and 2. it was at a theatre where they serve food, so I was able to indulge in a chocolate shake and french fries while goggling at the screen.
We just saw it, too Jilli! We paid LA monies because A. The DH loved the Rambo movies when he was in High School and B. I loves me some Jason Statham. It was totally mindless but we had fun.
I want to see it to compare it to The Losers and The A Team, but I think those two kinda wore me out (I only enjoyed the former).
I just had to imdb to check, but yes I did recognise Eric Balfour from behind in the Skyline trailer. WTF, self? When did I memorise his back?
Scott Pilgrim: Awesome.
I just saw it! I know nothing of the book. I enjoyed the movie for the most part, though the things that bugged ita also annoyed me.
