I like their number one, which reflects recent discussion. I like the placement of Quartermass and the Pit, but not Cloverfield. I haven't seen enough J-Horror to comment on Ju-On, or The Ring (I thought everybody liked Ringu better?).
Pretty good list, though. Nice mix of eras and styles with defensible choices.
Event Horizon? No. That was a shitty movie.
Even worse, Blair Witch 2? It's like they took a list of (semi-)relevant movies, threw them in a hat, and drew names. A middling Fulci over any Argento? And The Haunting doesn't make the list?
Randomizer ON!!!
I can't believe
The Haunting
isn't on that list, and
The Changeling
is. There's a movie that did not stand the test of time at all, despite the gorgeous sets and spooky lighting.
I still need to see
The Brood --
I have a friend who had nightmares for decades because of it, and it's just such a bizarre, perverse concept. I don't think I could sit through
Eraserhead, though.
Cloverfield.
I just don't get it. My hate-on for that movie isn't going away anytime soon.
I don't think I could sit through Eraserhead, though.
Eraserhead is bizarre and often icky, but I wouldn't call it scary. I think it's an amazing film and experience, but it's akin to having a bad dream as opposed to a nightmare, between which I do think there's a distinction.
"So, you just cut them up like regular chickens?"
how the objects signify the characters
I'm pretty sure that Ariadne's totem is a bishop.
Discuss.
The non-Globe sections of Boston.com are full of long lists displayed with bare-bones, unedited text in that one-per-page format to boost pageviews. The site's also trying to open pop-unders on every single one of those pages.
Sorry, I know that's not the kind of discussion you meant. I just hate to see shitty content farming get rewarded.
[Ugh. Stupid spelling.]
Ryan Reynolds killed me dead. You could tell he was about to tell this kid, "you're the cutest..."
In Bradley Cooper news, I had NO IDEA he was one of the members of Vesuvius on The Rocker!
