'War Stories'

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

ooh! DCistas - used book sale! for a good cause! Carpe Librum is having their annual book sale ($4 for hardbacks, $3 for trade paperbacks, $1 for paperbacks); proceeds benefit ... the public schools, I think. Or some other literacy project. It's in a store space in the shops at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave, NW - the end one at 20th Street.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

And I just read Flowers For Algernon, and that pretty much makes me wanna die.

Ok, I thought one advantage of living in a different country and having a different language is that you can escape crap like that.

I don't want to figure out how to make shakes and smoothies for the first time while on Vicodin.

Yes, but it would make great sport for us if you were to post while under the influence, and also saying things like, "WTH, why did I think I could puree steak and blueberries together?"

Yeah, I don't know how chocolate-y Rich Chocolate Royale will actually taste.

Think cheap, off-brand Coco-Puffs where you can really taste the added vitamins and minerals, rather than say, actual chocolate.

I want to see Star Trek ! But I will be in pain or something.

Go anyway. Either the Trek will be so awesome it will take your mind off your pain, or the vicodin-colored glasses will make sure you have a blast no matter how bad the movie is.

{{{{Raq}}}} The mind boggles at the wedding script.

Good luck with the ENT, Ginger. You deserve to be healthy and not in misery.

Congratulations on the healthy diabetic eyes, connie and Jenp.

Yay, Aims!

I just got back from the dentist - three small fillings. This is the first time I've had fillings without local anaesthesia. Not painful, but weird, weird, weird. The feeling was like a combination of brain freeze and nails-on-a-chalkboard. And now I find myself chomping my teeth, not very hard, just to feel the new fillings. Did I mention, weird?

So do dentists have a second career as pro wrestlers, with all the fish-hooks they perform?

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

I've never used Vicodin(have my own anxieties about drugs, don't ask) but I think you may be exaggerating how altered you're gonna be...it's not LSD. You're probably not going to think *fast*(which is a thing about myself I'm vain of, so I kinda get it, if you are) but I doubt that you'll be looking at your own hand wondering how it got there...Dr. House diagnoses people on it, after all.

The status is NOT quo.

I had an awful wisdom teeth experience, but that was only because I had all four extracted when I was 17 and they'd barely begun to form (so they had to do all kinds of unspeakable things to my jaws that I will refrain from talking about here). Given your age and the fact that the teeth have come in, regardless of if they've come in wrong, I seriously doubt it will end up being a huge deal. No need to fret.

Also, Vicodin doesn't affect me all that much. It makes me a little loopy, but certainly still able to feed myself, blender or no.

Our wings are not tired

I think the first question here is can you successfully feed yourself without vicodin and without the blender, once that has been established then we can begin to add variables one at a time.

Vicodin didn't affect me much at all while I was in pain. I think the last day I took it (day 3 or 4?) I wasn't really in pain but figured what the heck, I HAD the stuff, and was like "ooh...ok, this is kinda fun loopy, I guess I can see why people might take it for fun".

(ETA: but it was more like a light buzz, than even like being full-on drunk, it wasn't like I was hallucinating or anything...I certainly could FEED myself!)

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Final grades are in: 3 A's, 2 A-'s. Graduating GPA: 3.93!!!

That's excellent news! Good on you!

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

My regular painkiller is dihydrocodeine, which is milder than Vicodin but apparently quite similar. It doesn't have any interesting effects for me, except for sending me to sleep a fair bit. Now, codeine, which is apparently weaker, makes me completely nutty. I avoid that. It's a bit weird.

ETA: Aims, nice grades!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Congrats, Aims!!

I took Vicodin after my shoulder surgery, and I don't remember much about how it affected me. I don't think it made me too loopy. But it's still fun to say "hopped up on Vicodin."
