If a bag of flour is past it's "best by" date, but it still looks and smells perfectly fine, it's OK to use it, right?

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Maybe this helps Hil: [link]

Thanks, omnis. I think I'm going to use it anyway -- it looks perfectly fine, and I really don't feel like going out to get new flour, when I really don't need too much of it for this recipe. (It's a bread recipe that's mostly whole wheat with a bit of white. I've got plenty of new whole wheat flour, but just the end of an old bag of white.)

I feel all accomplished today. I have made curried tempeh mango salad and done one load of laundry and two loads of dishes and organized my kitchen shelves a little. I found a can of beets at the back of a shelf. Why did I buy a can of beets? I only like fresh beets.

Ugh. I got overheated and passed out. I took a nap, but I still feel really off-kilter. Just paged the covering doctor. I'm really frustrated, though. And I'm out at my parents', so they're really concerned. I'm supposed to be out here helping them, not causing concern!

Thrive to spite them

Val i hope you start feeling better soon!

I'm feeling accomplished. I've been freaking out because SLNRLBF is coming in 25 days! And my apartment is a mess, I'm a really bad housekeeper, really bad. But it's hard for me to get things done.

Anyway we started chatting on Skype and I started doing something things and I got started on three different things and I've been rotating between them and that seems to work for me. And occasionally I'll take a break and then get back to work and pick up something or put something away.

Nothing is perfectly clean or completed yet but I'm further along than I thought I'd be. Now I have clean out the fridge, take the garbage out and go to the grocery store. The Srattera must be working.

askye, that's wonderful! Go you!

The doctor hasn't called back yet. Grrr. I'm not actually hot any more. I'm just wiped out. It's so weird.

Rest and drink some fluids until you hear from the doctor, is there a way you could take a cool shower, that might make you feel better?

It's so weird to sort of see things different. My kitchen counters were covered with stuff and the sink. I kept looking at it thinking "I don't even know where to put things". But I started just moving some stuff around, throwing some things away, wiping down the counter. And soon I had cleared off one side and could move the dishes around.

I can't even describe it but it's like -- trying to untangle threads and it all looks hopeless no matter how hard you tease things apart and pull but now I can isolate a thread and see where it goes and how to get it free. Probably sounds weird and mostly I have to just starta nd remind myself I can see things differently now.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Val, have you drunk plenty of water? What's your sodium intake?

t /Repressed mom instinct

I used to faint in the heat a lot, but salt helps me. (High point: fainting in a very long line at a world's fair.)

Isn't it great when you get into a groove like that, askye?

There's a lot of room in all food expiration dates, since the manufacturers have a vested interest in people not keeling over after eating their products. The main thing that can happen in flour is a stale taste from the oil in the flour turning rancid, which is why I keep my flour in the refrigerator when I'm not baking much.

Yeah, we keep our whole wheat flour in the freezer.

vw, ugh- hope you feel better soon. Tom and I were both heat exhausted yesterday, Tom more so than me, poor guy.

Ugh, my left sinus hurts like a bitch!

On page 9 of the paper- hoping to get around 15 by the time I knock off for the day.
