Scrappy, peace to you and all your family.

vw, please tell your brother's MiL that the Founding Fathers did not write the 1st Amendment in ASSCAPS.

I just made it into work because the Red Line trains conspired against me this morning, and I had to reschedule both my weekly doctor's appointments. Thank goodness both offices were able to still get me in this morning, but, Oi!, am I now swamped here with stuff to get done today.

Also, we hired a nanny last night. My DH wanted to call all the daycare wait lists we are on and tell them we no longer needed them, but I told him we'd better make sure this nanny share is working for us, first. (Bless, bless, bless my parents - they kept asking how they could help us, and finally I said they could help by loaning us their 2nd car, which they hardly ever use, for about 6 months after I go back to work, so we can figure out how the logistics of our new life are going to work and whether we need to buy a 2nd car, and they said "yes" in about 2 seconds flat. Knowing them, they'll probably drop it off with a full tank of gas.)

any good ones that you couldn't use? My BFF's nanny is moving. It's really hard for her because her son has CF, which is pretty low key, but there are certain things that must be done, so she can't hire just any nanny.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I just discovered that my boss and I were at the same Interpol show two years ago. Ha.

any good ones that you couldn't use?

Truthfully, I haven't paid attention to the notices for the past couple of months as we vetted this nanny-share and tried to figure out if/how we could afford it.

But there are always posts to the local listserv of people who are recommending their nanny that they have to let go, and I'm happy to forward any of them to you, although most are looking for TP/SS work. This one was from earlier this month:

Carmen is a mature middle-aged woman who has had four children of her own and has worked as a nanny in D.C. for 23 years. She has experience with twins, preemies, children with special needs, and nanny-shares.
