My neighborhood's community council meeting was tonight (think Gilmore Girls town council, only full of hipsters, gay people, Damn Liberals(TM), vegans, hippies, vegan hippies, and old black ladies who no one EVER sasses).
One of the many, MANY reasons why I love my neighborhood: the best damn 4th of July parade is going to be green this year -- any cars that enter have to pay a $10 fee (Vespas and hybrid cars are $5).
One MORE reason I love my neighborhood: as a fundraiser for the food pantry, our awesome local bakery is going to organize a grilled cheese sandwich cook-off similar to this: [link] Three categories of sandwiches: regular (i.e., orange cheese, white bread, butter), fancy (i.e., swanky -- or skeezy -- cheeses, fancy bread, etc. [a David Smay grilled cheese]), and dessert (which fascinates me).
That is going to ROCK.
