Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Crappity, people. Since when does Wednesday act so much like Monday?

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Pix, that is crazy! Is it that entrance to west bound right down the street? cuz I've made that turn a ton of times too. How are you supposed to make that entrance?? Isn't there road signs that say "West bound, right arrow"??

VW, I say accept, get her e-mail addy, then remove her, and sign her up for crazy websites. What? Me? Vindictive? OK, only in thought. But ya, that's crazy. Total shark jumper.

note from Shir:

I'm applying for a job I really, really, really, really, really want.
(the really really really was bolded, but didn't know how to do that in the quote mode) So send some job~ma for her!

OK, off to work. Ugg. Insomnia fairies visited me all night. Today will not be fun.

The status is NOT quo.

Is it that entrance to west bound right down the street?

No, it's an on-ramp off Ventura onto the 405S that has two lanes--I thought you could take a right into the right lane from the right side and a right into the left lane from the left side, but apparently not. I'm just so upset about the fact that I now have to find time to GO TO COURT or deal with three MORE years of obscene insurance payments because of a point on my license (it's just now been three years since the two fender benders I had that trashed my insurance rating in the first place).

Post bail? Why?

Oh, Elsie. She's 15 now, and a friend is teasing her about obeying her father so much. Friend says,

But now I must finish my errand and go, for I know you're longing to be at those books. Do you get a ferruling every time you miss a word?--and enjoy the pain because it pleases papa to inflict it?

Post bail? Why?

Because this is an actual infraction that "could result in up to six months of jail time" if I fail to appear. Seriously. For making a 10mph right turn that I didn't realize was illegal. I just want to curl up into a ball and weep. This is not doing wonders for my depression and anxiety.

Eww. It's mentioned that Elsie looks on her father's friend "like an uncle." Her father's friend is in the habit of sighing, "I wish you were ten years older," whenever he kisses her goodbye. Her father witnesses this, and this scene ensues:

"You are mine; you belong to me; no other earthly creature has the least shadow of a right or title in you; do you know that?"

"Yes, papa, and rejoice to know it," she murmured, putting her arms about his neck and laying her head against his breast.

"Ah!" he said, sighing, "you will not always be able to say that, I fear. One of these days you will--" He broke off abruptly, without finishing his sentence.

She looked up inquiringly into his face.

He answered her look with a smile and a tender caress. "I had better not put the nonsense into your head: it will get there soon enough without my help."

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, the more you post, the surer I am that I read these books at some time in my murky literary past.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

{{{Aims}}} That truly sucks. Looks like you're focusing on the positives, which is all you can do. Argh.

{{{Kristin}}} I had a similar experience when they put up a tiny sign down the street saying "No Right Turn Between 7:00-9:00 AM." I'd made that turn for 5 years. The ass ticketed me the morning after they put that damned sign up. Effers. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this when you're already feeling fragile.

I am also having a Week (actually 2 Weeks). I'm ready to feel better physically and mentally any day now, universe.
