What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

In stark contrast to Hil's advisor, my boss is awesome. We just had this conversation over our new instant messaging system (she was actually walking over to my cubicle when she went back to her office to give it a try).

I forgot to say thanks for doing a good job during our 1:1.
Thanks.

You're welcome? I don't know what I did.

You are very intelligent, capable, and dependable. I am reminded of it at least daily. I thought I should say thanks for that.
If you want me to send this in an e-mail so you can archive it. I will.

Oh! Thank you. I really appreciate it.
Oh, please do. I will pull it out and hug it.

LOL. I assume you heard that.

PC, these kinds of things are good to keep in a file for a) the days when you're feeling shitty and incomptent, you can see where someone thinks that you're not and b) evaluation - helps you pinpoint the stuff you've done in the past year to remind your boss how great you are.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Hil, I wonder if your lovely adviser would respond better to a non-electronic form of messaging. Are there inter-office memo's? Physical mailboxes? Does he check those? iirc, he's not great with phone messages, so that would be out. I dunno. Just an idea. I know there are some older artsy types that are flakey that hate e-mail/internet/voice mail types of things.

PC, that is awesome. Save it. I had a couple those in my e-mail at the old job. On the rough days, I'd look them over for a needed ego boost.

Omnis, I'm glad your "leaf on the wind" moment wasn't followed by a horizontal pile-driver rock.
I dunno, that doesn't sound so bad right now. The ducks. They are mobilizing.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Physical mailboxes? Does he check those?

There are, but I'm not sure how often he checks his, since he's not at the office every day.

Made the applesauce tonight. One macintosh apple, one honeycrisp, about a tablespoon of brown sugar, and about an inch worth of grated ginger.

I was too impatient to wait until it cooked down totally for dinner (with pork, brussel sprouts and radishes). it was good.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds delicious, sauce and dinner both.

Yum, I want Vortex's dinner! I wasn't feeling well this morning and slept through the morning. I ate channa masala from Trader Joe's (which oddly doesn't come with rice) and frozen garlic naan. Which was yum.

I am totally going to the farmer's market, buying apples and making a big batch this weekend. so simple. I used my mini food processor, so it will take a little longer, but its worth it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I made my new recipe hot and sour chicken soup tonight. It's so good and so simple! Lemony and garlicky with just a bit of burn. Plus chicken and noodles. I could totally sell this to people who had the cold and didn't have their mothers near by.

My Yellow Pages Ad: Got a head cold? Call me and I'll come make delicious soup for you in your house. I'll even swing by and pick up a video for you.

Of course, you have to have a good bread to sop it up, and I got one of my two favorite breads in San Francisco: green onion & feta.
