I'm finally headed home. I missed my window of opportunity with traffic, so I stayed and got all my grading done. Yay for empty "to be graded" trays!
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I have never understood staying up late or sleeping in; I am incapable of doing either. I get tired early and go to bed, and get up before my alarm every day. I feel like if I'm sleeping in I'm missing out on the best part of the day; I understand that people who stay up late feel the same about going to bed by 10pm (which I always do). I can't remember the last time I saw midnight; it must have been a wild occasion.
I have a crush on the Channel 2 weatherman, so I'm waking up when the TV alarm goes off so I can watch the weather and local news.
A therapist friend reported that at a recent conference, an expert on SAD-related disorders said that having a lamp with a 100-watt incandescent lightbulb on a timer to go on at the same time every morning keeps the blues away. That blast of light substitutes adequately for the lack of actual sunrise.

This is me. I usually get into work around 7:00 a.m., and am at my most productive between then and about 2 pm. There are days when I'm tired when I get up, but I am always awake.
Teppy's recent comment about Ray the lightbox reminded me to dig out our lightbox. I've been using it the past few days while doing my makeup in the mornings, and it IS helping.
If anyone's thinking of getting that butler alarm clock, ThinkGeek currently has a coupon code (NOSYMONKEY) to get a free Annoy-A-Tron with purchase: [link]
Just FYI.
eta: Purchase over $15, good 'til 11/13, midnight EST
Ahaha. I can think of a target for that.
My alarm goes off at 5:00 so that I can be out the door by 6:15 to make it to work by 7:00. I'm not really awake until after the first ten minutes in the shower.
When insomnia strikes and I'm worried about oversleeping in the morning, I drink about a liter of water before midnight. A full bladder reinforces the alarm clock very convincingly.
So, Hubby is home and pissed at all the hoops he has to jump through to get the home health equipment he needs--oxygen tahnks, oxymeter, etc. I think he'll be better once he sleeps in his own bed with his own cat and his own wife nearby.
Many thanks for the ~ma.
Connie, I'm glad he's home and hope he gets all the stuff he needs as painlessly as possible.
My favorite owl tattoo is this one, by Corey Miller. [link] I wish it were mine. The story is pretty cool, too.
Robert has learned a great amount from his mentally challenged sister and decides to depict it with a wise owl being trapped in tree's twisting branches. He did it freehand, too.
