And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ugh, GC, what a PITA.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm sorry to hear that, Glamcookie. What a stupid system we have.

Trust my rage

Stephanie, I hope Ellie's lip heals quickly!

Thanks - it's mostly better. I don't know that it bothered her that much. It just looked really gross and I felt bad that I let her eat the gummi-type candy. How's Liv doing?

Since we are legally married in CA, we thought we could just put DW's name on the birth certificate and that would be that

That seems so wrong. This is the sort of BS that gets me all angry. If DW was male, she would be assumed to be the father, unless you made it a point to clarify that she wasn't. I know there's a biological difference here, but it just seems legally wrong to me that she's not automatically the child's other parent.

Between GC and Jess, our legal system is pissing me off today.

This is so annoying. One of the reasons that I think making same sex marriage legal is to protect these types of parental rights, and it is so sad to me that being married is still not solving the inequality of it. I have a friend in a same sex marriage who is going through a horrible divorce right now. She has been a stay at home mom for all of her boys life, but she is losing parental rights because she is not biomom.

For me, it was this issue, plus immigration issues, that convinced me that we need marriage and that civil unions, or anything less than marriage, was not enough.

ImememeN, I am all upset and anxious about Iraq and Joe's upcoming deployment (which is not until next September, so I really need to chill). I was upset this morning, and then I went to a promotion ceremony that was a) held at the memorial for all those who have died from Ft. Carson, including two people I/we knew and b) the promotion speaker, who I like and think is a good man, was talking about the promotee telling his children someday about how he was off in Iraq defending America from the people who crashed two planes into two towers.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, crap, GC, that's such bullshit, and I'm sorry. You're having a baby, and that is itself giant and mindblowing (and expensive) enough that you shouldn't have to worry about anything else on top of that, let alone mindless bureaucratic garbage that shouldn't even be a question at all because you're legally married.

Somewhere inside I'm still proud of my fourth-generation native status, but more and more lately I find myself thinking, Fuck you, you moron state. Be less stupid!

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

That's really frustrating, GC :( I hope you can get the adoption sorted as quickly and easily as possible, at least.
