We have student worker who has been spending way much time in the staff lounge. By which I mean, he uses it when he's not working a shift, but just studying in the library. I am being unreasonable?

No, definitely not disruptive. He's just using the space to study and lounge in and it feels sort of invasive to me. I guess I feel like that is where the staff gets to go to socialize, eat, and spend break time. Our options for this are very limited, especially spaces away from our patrons where we can vent a little. He, on the other hand, has lots of options on campus where he can go and eat his lunch among peers. Our lounge is just the closest microwave.

Hmm. Then he probably shouldn't be hanging out there. But I'm not sure how you could get that across to him.

Jilli, I should send you a picture of my bat necklace, except I'm not sure how it would photograph. It's made of jet, was handcarved in Indonesia, and the bat is hanging upside down like it's sleeping.

OMG so pissed. Our office is freezing (v. high ceilings) and I've been wearing a hat and armwarmers all week, and they (HVAC) won't turn on the heat until Dec. 1st for some mysterious reason. But THEIR department has heat, right down the hall, and they shut the door so none of it comes down our way. Screw this mess, I'm going to talk to the supervisor, and if that doesn't work I'm going up the chain.
