Sincere discussion lets you know dissent is alive, especially in the times where you can't do, or can't see what's being done. I guess I'd always rather know there are two sides to a problem than think I wandered into a monolith. It can be really scary when the silence sounds like it's against you, and everyone sympathetic is too busy to pipe up.

It looks like you went with just the one, but I was going to say - make ABSOLUTELY sure you're getting all girls if you decide on multiple hammies! (A friend of mine used to run a hamster rescue center before her allergies got the better of her. Even after years of experience sexing the hammies, she'd occasionally wind up with an accidental litter.)

Our apartment is a total disaster, so I am using the timer productivity method. Set a timer for 15 minutes and get done as much as I can, and then I get a small break. I'm impressed at how well it is working for me. I should have tried it sooner.

True. But to me, it feels like either the discussion isn't sincere (or just biased), and that there are 14 different sides, not only 2, that want representation.

We're thinking of getting Emeline a hooded rat for her birthday. There are two of them in her class and she seems to really like them.
I think it will be a great learning experience. Either in learning about responsibility in taking care of the rat, or learning about the circle of life and predators because the cats ate it.
