'Beneath You'

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

Well, her husband left her last year so I am guessing it's the kind of lesson she's been teaching herself. But our circumstances are so very different; my boyfriend has been looking for work for a year and a half in his field, and finally has found something - on the other side of the continent. I am not going to engage her on it, I don't think it be useful.

But, yeah. I was a little surprised to see it as a response to my status.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Any ideas on what she means?

I think it's nicey-nice speak for "Suck it up, buttercup." With a layer of for-your-own-good smoothed on top.

I'm also in A Mood today, so you should probably take my interpretation with a grain or 12 of salt.

Calli, you nailed it. That's why it's a pisser.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Especially with the sad-face icon at the end, I bet she misinterpreted your "I do not accept this" "DO NOT WANT" more literally than you probably intended it to be, as in, actively resisting his move, rather than just really really not wanting it. Which, if it were true, would only be compounding your hurt over something that cannot be helped. I think she's wanting you to come to a place of accepting it and stop hurting yourself more, which would be dandy if you'd meant what she thought you meant.

eta Uh, yeah. What they said.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

While continuing my research on Sacha Baron Cohen, I was checking out his alma mater, Christ's Collge, Cambridge. (Which now boasts this illustrious list of alumni: John Milton, Charles Darwin, Borat.)

But surely this college society was on J.K. Rowling's mind when she thought up Gryffindor.

The Marguerites Club is one of the oldest surviving College societies, reformed in 1899 by G. L. Jessop the then captain of CUCC. It is believed to have originally formed some ten years earlier, but was soon disbanded. Originally the society was confined to captains and secretaries or those with colours in three sports. The name originated from the club's original blazer, which was navy blue in colour with the Foundress's 'rebus' or badge, signifying her name, embroidered on the pocket. Described in the 1908 issue of the college magazine: "The Marguerites have been the premier club of the College in the past, and claim to represent something more than mere athletic distinction"

Raising unhipness to lameitude, I didn't know who Sacha Baron Cohen was until someone mentioned Borat.

brillig

Crap, the higher-up corporation's block list has been added to our servers. Facebook is now unavailable. I guess someone was pissed about people playing Three Tower Solitaire and such. I'm going to have to find some other way to waste time now.

Yeah, Calli nailed it. And it seems like an awfully unkind thing for your acquaintance to say to you, java-- to me and it seems to most of the people who responded, it was clear that all you were doing was expressing your disappointment/unhappiness with the situation rather than a toddler-esque banging your heels on the floor throwing a tantrum response.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Nanita -- stop resisting - make it easier on yourself ;(

Yeah, I saw that and had a WTF reaction to it as well.
