[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And the shit keeps rolling. Just found out that I didn't make the interview cut for a job I wanted (it was a reach, but still) and they've instituted mandatory unpaid leave.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Wow, Vortex. Throw in a little rectal surgery and it's the best day ever. Yikes.

Trust my rage

Puerto Rico announced today they are laying off 40K government employees. People are sort of freaking out.

Cash, you jinxed me. I don't know whether to scream or cry right now. Remember the stupid student assistant who didn't make the copies because there was no paper? I have just now discovered that he has done something else stupid. You know how when you're in college, you have a "school address" where you're living and a "permanent address" where your parents live?

I have now just discovered that for "school address", he put THE FUCKING UNIVERSITY'S ADDRESS in the database. So, having printed a bunch of letters and FedEx labels, I now realized that all of the letters are wrong, the labels are wrong and HE'S A FUCKING IDIOT.

Oy, Vortex.

I gave my students a midterm today. It went pretty well, I think, except for one problem -- on one of the questions, a student pointed out that I'd said to find the tangent line at a particular point, but that point wasn't actually on the curve. He was right, so I picked a point that was on the curve and told everyone to use that point instead. This point that I picked somewhat at random turned out to be one point that the curve wasn't differentiable, making the problem have no answer with that point. Oops.

I mean, I'm trying to give the kid the benefit of the doubt, but seeing as how the database has a field for "school address" and one for "permanent address", is it too much to think that he'd figure that one out?

I just figured out what the problem was when one of the student's address was "Registrar's Office".
