What should I do, then? Send her a gift? Sacrifice? … Unholy fruit basket?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Hil, did a calendar frighten your advisor when he was a small child? He seems to have an unhealthy relationship with scheduling.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I mean, I understand being upset if you believe you are right and are getting yelled at, but she compounded it with "next time, i'll write it down so I can show you." UNFUCKINGACCEPTABLE.

I've been known to do that, while couching it in, "Gee, bosslady, I've been so forgetful lately, I just want to be sure I remember it right... Now just to be sure, let me repeat back to you..." Of course, it's hard to tell when I'm doing that as part of coping with a really crappy memory, and when I'm coping with a boss who makes my eyes roll out of my head. And then when stuff's hitting the fan, I can disingenuously say, "Huh, my notes from x date and y time said thus and so. I'm sorry, I don't know how I could have gotten it so wrong," eye-rolling to commence after supervisor leaves the room.

I do have a supervisor I argue with. I argue with her about how much she gossip she can tell me about my coworkers. I argue with her about how much whining she should do in front of the residents. I argue with her about basic, essential behavior management techniques that are the fundamental skills required in our profession. I put some effort into keeping my attitude as professional as possible while attempting to teach her how to be more professional. But sometimes I just lose all ability to pretend to respect her, and manage her behavior the way I do the residents'.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

The minute a report gets an attitude with me? They get pulled into a private meeting. And it doesn't happen more than once. They need to be respectful not only towards me, but to their colleagues.

the only reason that she got to multiple chances is that she's a student. she fucked the third and got bounced.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Not to mention: if you expect to be meeting your boss at a specific time and place and they aren't there on time? Call and make sure you got everything right...or to find out if you're going to start making some adjustments. No brainer. Everything about that intern screams "unemployable" to me.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Well, we got a lot done today at our house.

For one thing, my office chair finally gave up even pretending to be remotely pneumatic the other day. But I had a plan. I took a piece of 4 inch wide PVC pipe and cut off a chunk of the right length with a hacksaw. then I carefully pried off the Jesus clip at the bottom of the base and pulled it apart, slipped the tube on the shaft and remounted the base.

Now I have a chair of the right height. It's not all pneumatic and stuff, but it dame sure won't be making me squat at the computer.

That I did while Andi went and transferred the title of her new car at the DMV.

After that I called the guy who had left his number with Andi a year ago saying if I ever wanted to sell one or both of our old Chevy Caprices, give him a call.

So I did.

He came over and looked them over and we settled on a price.

Then Andi and I went and got our new used couch from her coworker. We has spent some time earlier in the day seeing if we could get a trailer for her caprice, but the cost was high, or they were out, or we had the wrong hitch, etc. Eventually we just called the coworker and asked if she know someone who had a truck who would schlep it to us for $20. She did. So we went and got that done and went to supper while waiting for the guy to come back and actually buy and take away the cars.

The Gran Plaza Mexican restaurant is in our back yard, so at 7 PM I walked back to the house just in time for the car-buying guy to show up with friends to buy our old cars.

Fifteen minutes later and we were down to 2 cars again, and a lot more room in the driveway.

Whew. And that's the short version.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

My new-ish PCA is 15 minutes late and not answering her phone. This is very bad practice, in my book (we went over this in her initial training). It might be time for me to do scary employer.

Oh yeah, totally understandable. I wasn't implying that you should have let her go earlier.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

HUJI schedule planning results for me: I believe the word is arbitrariness.

Could be worse, but I'll need some time to fix what they thought they were doing. Oh, and all of my extra cool sociology classes are out of the window, without any explanation.

My window of opportunities for corrections will be opened only in 6 days. Till then, I think it's rather pointless to sit and stare and go WTF at the results.

Idiotic automatic planner.

Did they cancel the classes? How irritating. What classes are on your schedule otherwise? Anything particularly interesting?
