Shana tova!
I'll open some bubbly tonight in honor of the New Year.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shana tova! I'm actually going to services tonight with my entire immediate family. It'll be my first time at services in years. I expect that my mother and/or my father will get teary at some point, having us all together for the holidays. More likely my father, as it's "his" holiday (mom is Christian).
The last episode of the soap opera that I have been watching since I was 7 years old is going to be airing in about 10 minutes.
Ah, you're a Guiding Light fan? My best friend is too. Her whole family, starting with her Grandmother, listened (in the early days on the radio) or watched since its inception. She's fairly mournful about it too.
From a historical standpoint, I'm actually a little sad too-- I mean, it's probably the last tangible link from the glory days of radio transitioning to television. The other one I can think of is Grand Old Opry.
I got to NJ last night. I've got a list of stuff I'm supposed to cook today -- matzo balls, lentil pate, and a potato spinach casserole -- and family is coming for dinner tonight. (Lots of family tonight -- I think that, at last count, we were up to 10 people.)
Shana tova, all!
Barb, yup Guiding Light. They're trying to wrap up 72 years of storylines, which is of course unpossible.
Hil, how is your mom feeling?
Hil, how is your mom feeling?
Better, but still not 100%. She was all stressed out this morning because everything wasn't ready for the holiday yet. She's getting her hair done now, and the house cleaning people came while she was out, so she'll probably be calmer after she gets back.
Shanna tova!
I like the idea of another new year. Hope you mom relaxes enough to enjoy the holiday.
I have to send a sorry you show is ending email to my mom . It was her show forever. Not sure she even watches it now.
