My dad said "if you need anything from THAT aisle, I'll buy it, but I need specifics. I need to know the name, how many, and the color of the box!"
There are still times I have to remember what to buy by color.
That story is hysterical (heh), Vortex. I don't remember hearing it before. Cool dude.

Your dad's awesome, Vortex.
David, Scott laughed out loud at your E story.
You can tell him that Emmett was
extremely
enthusiastic. To the point that he was shoving his junk in my face as I sat on the couch, and made a point of showing it. (Since he's blonde this involved a very special puppet show. "Look!")
Oh Vortex, that's awesome! I just remember pleading with my mother, "Don't tell Daddy. Don't tell Daddy." She already had (and was honest with me about that, so points to her) so it was a moot point.
Oldest boychild overheard certain female in my house, tonight and I was pretty sure of that, from the moment it happened (just based on our proximity) so I asked later, if he knew was was going on. He did. His father then promptly told him to keep the boys away from his sister. 50% of me was thinking, "Oh, yeah," while the other 50 was thinking, "Don't do that." But on the whole, yeah.
Laughing like a drain at Emmett.
Yeah, Cindy, if my mom's a flower child...R's mom? Took it up to 11.
Okay, so erika, you're much younger and have seen friends traumatized by this. Is buying Blume's Are You There, God... overkill? I haven't done it, yet, so any answer is cool (I need no reassurance).
when my father poked his head around the corner and yelled "period! period! period!" I cracked up.
Awww, man, that's genius.

In another of the "java's mother was crazy" (and not the fun kind of crazy)stories, notice of MY first period was included in a Christmas letter that went out to 100+ people.
I wish I were making that up.
I love that story, Vortex.
very well may be my favorite dad story of all time. and I have a lot of good ones :)
