Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I swear, the rest of my family is more concerned about what I'll eat for Rosh Hashanah dinner than I am. Every time I talk to someone, they've come up with yet another vegan dish to make or buy. I swear, this meal is going to have about 8,000 vegan dishes, at least half of them desserts. (And I am saying "Thank you" to every one of them, but I will get very annoyed at the first person who complains about me being vegan creating so much extra work, because I requested exactly one thing -- vegan challah rolls -- which can be bought at the same bakery where my mom buys the eggy challah anyway, and I offered to cook several things. My mom decided that she would cook a few of the things that I'd offered to cook, because she doesn't like anybody else cooking in her kitchen at the same time that she's cooking there.)

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

two thumbs up on the chicken & dumplings.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

What can you do, Hil? It's not that hard to feed a vegan, but it might take you a few years before the rest of your family realizes it.

Yeah. And there are a bunch of vegetarian things that my mom has made the past several years for Rosh Hashanah, and none of them have eggs or dairy. My sister says they're having fun with trying new things, so I guess I'll just let it go at that.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

My sister says they're having fun with trying new things...

My sister also says that it makes them feel hip and cool to buy vegan stuff. I don't think I have ever before made someone cool by proxy. (I also don't think I have ever rolled my eyes quite that hard at something my sister said.)

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

It sounds like they are enjoying this new world you opened them up to, so I'd let them have fun with it. if they make 8,000 dishes, well, more leftovers.

Thrive to spite them

I guess I think of UF being the bigger rivalry because it's closer and I've grown up with more trash talking between UF and FSU rather than FSU and Miami.

My neighbors are having a screaming argument with a food delivery guy. I think that they think they already paid with a credit card, and the delivery guy says that his records say that they're supposed to pay cash, and now everybody's yelling at each other.

No, wait. Delivery guy shouted "Fine!" and stomped off, and neighbors slammed the door (as they always do, even when they're not mad.) I wonder whether he left the food or not.

I still have memories of wet green paint sticking to the seat and legs of my uniform the year that UM decided they needed to paint the bleachers where the band would be sitting.

The day before the game.

With Miami humidity? Right.

Of course, Gainesville is where the tires to my car got slashed.

No real love for either team.
