I think you might like the Duboce Triangle area, Nora.
It's between the Lower Haight (Toronado) and the Castro with a big park and lots of trees.
But it really kind of depends on a variety of things and what y our priorities are. Do you want to be close to a main Muni line so you guys can work downtown? Want a neighborhood that's quiet and treelined or sunny, or you can tolerate fog if it's close to GG Park? That kind of thing.
I can lead you guys around a few spots if you like.
Hey Barb! Matilda got a package from Jacksonville today.
Can I be admitty-type lady?
I *loathe* giving Emeline a bath. Like, out of all the mom things, it's the one I hate most.
There. I'm a bad mom.
Baths stress me out, too, Aims. The kids tend to fight over bath toys and getting them out is like pulling teeth. Then there is the mess to clean up.
I admit, I don't bathe mine every night for this reason.
Well, the hope is I pass my comps, we get rid of a LOT of crap in our house, and Tom finds an awesome job- then I can look around for something, and then we can hopefully figure out what the best move is from there.
I am intrigued by the Lower Haight due to its proximity to the Toronado. (great minds think alike, Hec, that's the first neighborhood I looked at on CL.)
I don't know where this is coming. I think it's because we are so excited for our trip out there and we are both frustrated and annoyed at our current jobs, and are not feeling great about prospects here in the future (that might not be a true feeling, but it's our headspace.)
The only things that make me hesitate are the financial situation of CA as well as the fact, well, the whole Proposition 8 thing. There's a unquantifiable attachment to living in a region that has legalized gay marriage. I know that probably sounds dumb, though. These are 2 relatively minor, yet niggling, concerns.
I'm so restless. I've lived my entire life in a 100 mile radius. (whatever Hartford CT to Salem MA is.) I know also that Tom wants to live out there, has since moving to the US.
ION, who's got two thumbs and got to go out for cheeseburgers with Ellen S.? THIS GUY!
It's like, she turns her ears off and just becomes even more annoying, which makes me more snappish and means. More of our fights have stemmed from bathtime than any other time because I hate them so much.
Nora - I totally get the feeling restless and wanting to move cross country. I';ve done it twice and both times, it sucked at the beginning, but was, overall, the best decision I could have made.

Huh. Bathtime is No Big Deal around here, but then I get in the bath with Matilda - as I used to do with Emmett.
ION, Matilda is apparently all potty-trained at daycare and hardly at all potty trained at home. In short: we suck. We just have not been reinforcing it or making her conscious of doing it at home. But at daycare she's been dry for weeks.
but was, overall, the best decision I could have made.
Wrong! Moving back to Michigan was a terrible idea!
Because you're farther from us.
In that aspect, yes it was a horrible idea.
Having more than four people Emeline can go stay the night with or even a whole weekend? AWESOMECAKES!!
Man, if you were in SF I could line up like eight people who would be happy to have Emeline for company.
And we'd wash her too before we gave her back to you.
