Y'all remember that Saturday morning animated anti-litter thingy?
I remember the crying Indian.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm probably made of mom-fail. I took the kids to the dentist this morning for teeth cleaning and such and afterwards, took them to iHop, which they love and never get, because there's only one around here and it's always massively crowded and notoriously slow on the weekends. But it happens to be by their dentist.
But I did make them brush their teeth again.
I remember the crying Indian.
Yeah, me too. But I think they ran that PSA for about eighty-three years. The only thing that ran longer was the commercial for tootsie pops with the Owl.
Burrito Week for all! Perfect weather and timing (slow in the office) for it, over here.

Yep, I remember it too. And they still run the Tootsie Pops commercial with the owl.
It's important to teach kids that owls are lazy, cheating bastards. Or talking owls, anyway.

When my one now-adult cousin was fiveish he was told to wait in the car while his Mom ran in to pick up the drycleaning. He was not to get out. She could see hime the whole time. She would be right back...
She's gone all of two minutes when she looks up to see him getting back in the car. He had seen someone litter and had gotten out to throw it away. His Mother was unimpressed by his reasoning and proceeded to chew him out about how dangerous that was and how she should be able to trust him for five minutes now that he was a big boy, she didn't care WHY he got out of the car, but that he had etc.
He looks up at her, face covered in tears, and says, "You may not care, but God and the indians do."

No wonder the postal system is so spotty.
Oh, burrito week! I might have to stop by one of the local taquieras around here and see what they've got for dinner.
I read an interesting article about the "Crying Indian" and how Keep America Beautiful (which funded the PSA) is a front for the soft drink industry. (I luuuuuurve Orion magazine)
On a contemporary note, the National Recycling Coalition just narrowly rejected merging with KAB (it got a majority yes vote, but not the 2/3 required to pass). NRC is, unfortunately, probably going to go into bankruptcy, hence the potential merger.
