Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I did, way back in the dark ages. I was managing editor of The Hustler and lived in McGill the first year it went coed. I went to Vanderbilt in part because it was far away from my family (and it would let me in after my junior year). My family moved to Nashville the next year. Mother grew up in East Nashville.
I haven't seen Athena yet either. I should get down there next time I visit my family. While some people may scoff at a Parthenon made of concrete, it's an exact size replica of the original before the ravages of time and ill-advised arms storage.
My geekiness is vindicated: IKEA switches fonts, people flip out in response.
Seriously, VERDANA?!?
Hil, Almay makes a hypoallergenic deodorant.
WTF, body? I slept about 12 hours last night and *still* struggled to get up this morning and was *still* dozing off at work after my first cup of coffee. I thought this situation would improve after I stopped taking Abilify, but maybe it's the Cymbalta?
Glad you're having fun on your trip, scrappy!
sj, it's so great to hear about your wedding plans.
Verdana? You mean, like, in huge letters on the front of their stores? Really?
Ginger, I was in McGill too, from sophomore year on. Back in the dark ages, when we were learning to program in COBOL with punchcards.
An exact replica of the Parthenon! So what if it's concrete, people! It's awesome! When they first started sculpting Athena in place, my friend and I went and ate olives on the steps. We wanted to sacrifice a goat, but there were these "rules"...
Where in East Nashville? I lived in Donelson for many years after college.
Ooh. Verdana is bad. That is not particularly clever of Ikea.
Hello! I am back from festival. I leave for Spain (well, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands - technically Spain) tomorrow afternoon. The weather there is 27 C. That's 'quite hot enough for this particular little pale Irish flower' in non-metric. Oh, and The Girl is coming with us! It's all so exciting. I bought sunscreen. I am going to stop spewing rubbish onto the screen now. Thank you.
How's everyone here?
Hil, Trader Joe's makes a deodorant with cotton in it, that really helps with absorbency. I use it on days when I know I'm not going to be doing anything sweaty. It also contains witch hazel, aloe, comfrey, and lavender. But it doesn't smell like lavender, or anything in particular.

In their catalogs as well as online material. Verdana is not meant for print, damn it.
I guess it could be worse -- it could be Comic Sans.
Ginger, you went to Vanderbilt? Me too! Oh, the Parthenon. I must go see it again, now that work on Athena is finished.
Lewis did too!
As far as looks I love for myself, I'm a gown whore. I'd love to walk a red carpet like once every couple of weeks so I could wear gowns and beautiful shoes and spectacular jewelry.
This is one of my favorite pictures of myself.

This was my
exact
reaction.

When I was teaching a lot of students with learning difficulties, we surveyed them to find out which font they liked best. Guess which one came out tops? Comic Sans became our house style, and I gagged every time I had to type in it.
I'm in favour of readable fonts, being dyslexic, but Ariel etc is fine...
