“Not dead yet!”

I'm feeling the urge to cook dinner tonight but don't know WHAT to cook.

Hm.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Mom cooked a huge meal for friends the other night and brought me a ton of leftovers. So, I don't have to worry about what we're having tonight. The warm weather just doesn't inspire me to cook the way cold weather does.

I'm the same way, sj-- I do a LOT more cooking when it's cooler, plus, my favorite style of cooking is much more cold-weather oriented (stews, pies, soups...). But still, Lewis goes out of town Sunday for his company's manager's conference which is depressing the shit out of him at the moment, since he'd really hoped to have a reason NOT to go. Plus, he closes tomorrow night, so it's not like I'll have a chance to cook dinner for him tomorrow.

I think it's the evil influence of the Williams Sonoma email that's making me want to bustle around and make something good.

Clearly she was talking about some OTHER baby who would continue to sleep during a procedure like that.

Mine will sleep through it, give a little stretch and flop over to the other side again. We persist, but it's become a game for us to bet how long it takes for her to re-arrange herself back to Most Favored Side Status. If the doctor thinks we should take it more seriously, we will, but I'm not particularly concerned at this point.

I am hungry enough that I could eat my lunch now.

That makes sense, Barb. I'm all about baked pastas, soups, and chili in winter. I love the taste of roasted veg in summer, but I don't really like turning the oven up high to make it.

I'm trying to convince myself I can't go back to sleep because I am meeting friends for lunch later.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The weather we're having right now is my favorite cooking season - the summer veggies are still in season, but it's cool and rainy enough for me to want the oven on.

Last night I made a killer mint and walnut pesto to go over fettucine with zucchini ribbons. Tonight I'm roasting a chicken. Nom nom nom.

Ooooh... I love roasted chicken but Lewis doesn't like chicken on the bone. (Whackjob) He'll eat it, but it's not his favorite preparation.

I still have a favorite side. My hair is noticeably thinner on that side, actually. I even rearranged my room so that non favored side would face the wall, which I thought that I wouldn't like, but nope, doesn't make a difference.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I toss and turn all night. Less so since I got the new bed, but I still never know what position I'll be in when I wake up, other than not on my back.

I burned out on cooking a bit when I was making my Dad a week's worth of meals and shlepping them to Kernersville every weekend. But my interest is starting to re-emerge. There'll be the annual Baking of the Apple Pie which means autumn's here, and possibly some sort of foodie thing around my birthday in October. I'm starting to get interested again.
